This study analyzes a participatory cultural-ecosystem strengthening process across eight villages surrounding the Muarajambi National Cultural Heritage Area. A participatory descriptive design integrated a survey of 400 residents, field assessment, focus-group discussions, local enumerator mobilization, and institutional-process documentation. Findings show a structural gap between strong cultural and natural assets and effective participation: only 36% of respondents were categorized as highly participative in heritage restoration and 34.5% in cultural activities. Cultural erosion is linked to declining intergenerational knowledge, limited youth engagement, and weak coordination. The Semai-Rawat-Panen pathway—evidence co-production, community capacity building, and institutionalization through cultural movers, Tabun Tawar, inter-village regulations, and BKAD—offers a hybrid governance mechanism. Sustainability depends on transparent co-decision, equitable benefit distribution, ecological safeguards, and continuous local capacity development.
